One Thing is Needed

Scripture: Luke 10:38-42

Mary sat at Jesus' feet. Martha went about the business of serving Jesus. Mary was attentive. Martha was distracted. Martha asked if Jesus cared. Jesus carefully explained that Martha was worried and troubled about many things.

Jesus said to Martha, "But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her" (Luke 10:42). There is a time to serve and a time to listen. Once the serving is done, the word of Jesus abides. Let us learn that "one thing is needed."

"All flesh is as grass, And all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, And its flower falls away, But the word of the LORD endures forever" (1 Peter 1:24-25).
